Platinum Travel Team Tryouts
Our tryout process is designed to identify and select athletes who meet the Travel Tier Standards—players who are highly competitive, mentally focused, and committed to excelling in volleyball at both regional and national levels. Final selections will be made by Club Directors and Head Coaches, with input from independent evaluators to ensure a fair and comprehensive assessment.
Phased Tryout Process
Initial Pool Selection Tryout (July) – The first round will identify 18-20 players and 1-3 alternates as the Travel Team Pool in each age group.
Ongoing Evaluations – Throughout the school volleyball season, the Travel Team Pool athletes will participate in open gyms to further assess skill, team chemistry, and growth.
Final Placement Tryout (November) – After the school season, a final evaluation will determine Travel Team placements from athletes in the pool.
Team Formation & Selection
Each age group will have two teams* in the Travel Tier – Power (National Travel) and/or Apex (Regional Travel).
*18U will have one travel teamFinal placements for Power and/or Apex Teams will be made in November to allow continued development over the summer and school seasons.
Players selected for the Travel Team Pool in the summer will retain their spot between initial pool selection and final placement.
Alternates selected during the summer tryout may be moved into the athlete pool if a spot becomes available due to injury, withdrawal, or other circumstances. If an alternate has not been moved into the athlete pool by team placements in November, they will be invited to Premier Team tryouts and will not attend the Travel Team placement tryout.
Travel Team Pool & Final Team Invitations
At the phase 1 tryout parent meeting, the process for travel team pool invitation teams will be explained to all in attendance. Platinum Volleyball will make every effort to select the best athletes for travel teams based on technical, tactical, mental, interpersonal, and emotional skill.
Participants accept their spot in the pool by signing the player contract, financial contract, and paying the deposit. The contracts and payment are all online. Parents will need access to the e-mail accounts used to register their athlete for tryouts in order to receive travel team pool & final team invitations.
If you are paying IN FULL with a check, this must be received at the Platinum facility within 48 hours of the commit deadline. Venmo is an option when paying in full, but if you select to add the service fee, you will be responsible for paying that additional fee. Parents who pay in full by the deadline will receive a free parent t-shirt.
