Girls’ Travel Teams
2025-26 Season
We’re happy to announce an exciting update to our competitive team structure and tryouts. As we elevate our travel teams for the upcoming season, our focus is on increasing competition levels and providing more specialized training opportunities.
Power Teams
Will compete in 1-3 USAV Travel tournaments in locations such as Missouri, Texas, Nevada, and Colorado.
Will compete in the local USAV Salt Lake Showdown.
Will also participate in local AAU National Qualifier tournaments, with locations including St. George, Logan, Idaho, and Wyoming.
Designed to expose athletes to diverse playing styles and top-tier competition while offering valuable recruiting opportunities.
Commitment Requirement: Athletes must commit to all predetermined tournaments (7-8 total) to be considered for a Power team.
Apex Teams
Will compete in the local USAV Salt Lake Showdown, providing similar high-level competition and college coach exposure.
Will also participate in local AAU National Qualifier tournaments, with locations including St. George, Logan, Idaho, and Wyoming.
Designed for elite athletes who want to compete at a high level with a more regional travel focus.
Commitment Requirement: Athletes must commit to all predetermined tournaments (6-7 total) to be considered for an Apex team.
By structuring our teams this way, we ensure that every athlete is placed in a competitive environment that aligns with their skill level, commitment, and development goals.
Platinum Travel Team Tryouts
Our tryout process is designed to identify and select athletes who meet the Travel Tier Standards—players who are highly competitive, mentally focused, and committed to excelling in volleyball at both regional and national levels. Final selections will be made by Club Directors and Head Coaches, with input from independent evaluators to ensure a fair and comprehensive assessment.
Phased Tryout Process
Initial Pool Selection Tryout (July) – The first round will identify 18-20 players and 1-3 alternates as the Travel Team Pool in each age group.
Ongoing Evaluations – Throughout the school volleyball season, the Travel Team Pool athletes will participate in open gyms to further assess skill, team chemistry, and growth.
Final Placement Tryout (November) – After the school season, a final evaluation will determine Travel Team placements from athletes in the pool.
Team Formation & Selection
Each age group will have two teams in the Travel Tier – Power (National Travel) and Apex (Regional Travel).
Final placements for Power and Apex Teams will be made in November to allow continued development over the summer and school seasons.
Players selected for the Travel Team Pool in the summer will retain their spot between initial pool selection and final placement.
Alternates selected during the summer tryout may be moved into the athlete pool if a spot becomes available due to injury, withdrawal, or other circumstances. If an alternate has not been moved into the athlete pool by team placements in November, they will be invited to Premier Team tryouts and will not attend the Travel Team placement tryout.
This updated structure aligns with the tryout format of other local clubs in the area and aims to coordinate tryout dates and procedures as well as maximize athlete evaluation and prioritize skill progression. Our goal is to provide athletes with a secure yet challenging pathway, ensuring they have opportunities to grow, compete, and excel at the highest levels.
By emphasizing continuous development and competitive opportunities, this approach fosters an environment where athletes can showcase their skills, refine their game, and achieve their full potential within Platinum’s top tier volleyball program.
Team pricing and estimated tournament schedule and locations will be available in July before the first round of tryouts.
